Which one is more desirable. I've used to DA/SA as I mostly shoot SIGs but am puzzled by the LEM trigger that a lot of people swear by.

I'm used to GLOCK "Safe-action" system, how does it fare against it?

Which one would you get?

I've only ever owned an HK45 in the DA/SA configuration but I have owned it's little brother, the P30L, in both DA/SA (v3) and LEM trigger (v1), so my comments will be based on that, but I can't see the HK45 being much different. Plus, my experiences with these triggers seems to mirror what I have read elsewhere.

After the first shot, you would be very hard pressed to notice any difference at all between an LEM trigger and the SA trigger, as long as you are working the reset of the trigger an not letting the trigger out fully between each shot. If you do let the trigger out you will experience a quite longish but light take up before the trigger breaks. It does not feel like double action, but it doesn't feel quite like single. You have to shoot a LEM to fully get how it feels, but it is decent.

When it comes to the first shot, the DA pull of the DA?SA gun feels nothing at all like the LEM. The HK DA pull is nothing short of awful. Stupidly heavy and annoyingly long. By far the ugliest DA pull of any modern handgun - bar none.

In contrast, the first shot from the LEM trigger feels just like any other shot from the LEM trigger. light but longish take up and a clean light break with a bit more overtravel than I'd like to see, followed by a crisp but longish reset.

The real advantage of the LEM is that, much like striker fired Glocks and M&P's, there is a consistent feel between the first shot and every other short fired; but in a hammer fired pistol. I really like the LEM for that very reason.

If HK ever decides to shorten the reset of that trigger, I will definitely buy another P30 series gun. I love everything about that gun except the too-long reset.

I agree whit the previous post. I believe that LEM is superior to striker or sa/da. The only draw back is that you need to train a lot to develop muscle memory to learn where the reset is for the trigger.

I have a HKP2000 V1 LEM, and I will get back to SA/DA since I don't shoot often enough to be good with it.

:agree:

Only difference that I can add is that I have 2 USPs with the above set-up. My trigger reset for the first follow-up shot after the DA shot has been fired is relatively short. I've never fired the P30 LEM, so I'm not certain on the reset travel, nor can I say that my USP has a shorter reset than the P30...but it doesn't feel that it requires much travel for trigger reset. It does feel shorter than my P2000, though...

My second USP has an LEM/Match hybrid trigger, and the reset travel on that set-up is virually nothing. An ever-so-slight release of pressure from your trigger finger in between shots is basically what it takes for the trigger to reset. It is so easy to fire off a second shot almost effortlessly with this trigger set-up...I do enjoy this set-up.

My 2 cents...

V1 LEM feels like an SA trigger with a super light long takeup. After first shot, release to reset and pull again, at that point feels just like an SA trigger.

I was a cocked and locked SA fan and discovered I shot the V1LEM just as well as a 1911.
