A friend of mine has a 922 that he has owned since new. It has a 4" barrel.

He would have been allowed to keep it, if he had remembered to re-register it - but he did not.

Now he has to turn it in unless it gets re-barreled to 4 1/4" or longer. I looked on the Nurmich pages, and they show lots of longer barrels, but not for a 922.

I could buy a 6" for any model and just cut new threads and a forcing cone, but that is a lot of work on a $100 gun.

I am hoping that one of you will know of a different model that uses the same thread diameter and shank length.

Or maybe you have a 6" 922 and wants to trade the barrel for a 4" ????

Good luck on that idea.
that would not be a big job on one of these.
I would go with a 4 1/2 inch price of ruger 10/22 barrel
as there are lots of those take off's

He doesn't have to turn it in, he's got many choice, rebarreling is one, but he could also find someone who can buy short barreled handguns and sell it to him.

It would be less trouble to sell the gun and buy a restricted one.

He has had the gun since the 50's. he is atatched to it becasue it was his first gun of any kind. Most of us wish we still had our first gun, which we foolishly sold at some point.

He is a multi-millionaire, so the cost of re-barreling is not an issue - just finding the right barrel is a challenge.

I have found other H&R round 6" pistol barrels with front sights that we can cut back to 4 1/4" and thread for the 922, but it would be nice to know if some of the otehr H&R models used the same threaded shank dimensions. i.e used the same frame.
