H&R "Reising" Mod.65

Here's a novelty that I didn't even know existed. I got my hands on a .22 Harrington & Richardson "Reising" rifle. I believe they were U.S. training rifles and meant to duplicate the feel of the Reising submachine gun, though I could be wrong on this. I know they were made in .45 as well as .22 and in all my years I've never seen one. I wasn't sure whether to post this in the rimfire or milsurp forum since it's appropriate for each. A search on Google showed the same rifle, but I have no idea as to value or scarcity. If any of you have more information for me, I'd love to hear from you. For now, enjoy the pics.

The back sight looks like a sight that is an aftermarket item. However, it should be a Redfield sight, especially on the early model Model 65 rifles. This rifle was named "The General" by H&R. Later Model 65 rifles were called "The Leatherneck." The 165 was a similar rifle. There was a second version of the Model 65 after 1945 that had a more deeply fluted comb.

Hey buffdog, regarding the rear sight, not so! Check the google images for the Mod.65. From what I've been able to gather thus far, the Redfield rear sight was standard as it sort of duplicated the characteristics of the Garand rear sight in regards to adjustment and it was easier to purchase a ready made rear sight then to start tooling up and producing one themselves.

Perhaps I was a bit unclear on what I posted. I probably should have said "Although the rear sight looks like it might be an aftermarket item, it is original and made by Redfield."

BTW, I have had two Model 65 and one Model 165 over the last 55 years plus of collecting and shooting. All had the Redfield rear sight on them.
 
I bought one of these in 2015 as well!

A great find, I will try to post photos of mine eventually, it is all original in great shape with original sling.

Lawrence this is the only other one I know of. Do any other members have one?
