Does anyone know if any of the sponsors sell H&R rifles, if not do you know where I could get one? They seem to be reliable and cheap rifles and they aren't too bad on the eyes. I'm looking for one like this

Thanks for the help,

The odd one may turn out to be a lemon, but most are excellent shooters and very reliable. If you get a bad one, so what? Sell it, chalk up the small loss to a learning experience, and try again.

My Ultra Slug Hunter is the most accurate slug gun I've ever had or shot, and my .17HM2 is sub-MOA...for less than $180.00! My Buffalo Classic .45-70 shoots groups identical to those from my C.Sharps Arms, and costs about 1/10th as much.

Epps usually has a bunch in stock, and Williams' Arms carries them as well.

I have one in .243 and love it. :)

Some good info on them:

Reliable? I think that may be hit and miss. Mine was a junker so I sold it and I'll never buy another.

I've heard people make such complaints about all makes. Would you never buy another from Remington, Savage, Tikka, etc. if you ever got one lemon from them?

Ya Epps definitely has some, I was in there just yesterday. They will ship them for you or order what you want if they don't have it in stock already.

Thanks guys!
I will have to pick one up in the future but I found a great deal on a Stevens 200 .243 on the EE and had to go for it :D

But down the road I will have to get an H&R something about it, i just like them :)

Thanks again,
Josh

Definately get one one day! I have 2, one .45-70 and one .30-30, both are sub-MOA rifles. Had a 3rd in .223, sold it, regretted it ever since. I'm planning on a .30-06 if they ever resurrect the stainless/synthetic model.

Have an old H+R 158 30-30 and it shoots between 1/2-1 MOA any time you shoot it with a 4x Banner on it.My kids shot a lot of deer with it and one moose..........best $100 I ever spent..........Harold

Well congrats on your new rifle, enjoy. For what it's worth I had two Handi-rifles over the years. A .223 and a .25-06. Neither were what I would call one hole rifles but both shot good enough and I never had any of the issues (with any of my rifles, not just the handi's) the internet seems to make so famous. There is no other way to buy a new hunting rifle for so little and I like the single shots. :)

Thanks guys!

You now have a much better gun than the H&R. I keep thinking about getting a H&R as well but there are so many better choices out there in the same price range. If the H&R was a 100 bucks cheaper I'd be willling to give one a try.

 Hope we don't cross paths on the equipment exchange!

How often do you buy a gun that's "functionally challenged" or dangerous? Now contrast that to guns that just don't shoot as well as you had hoped?

I'm not suggesting that you sell a gun in the first category. Realistically, it hasn't happened to me all that often, and the problem has always been handled by the dealer where I got the gun.

The second problem? Happens all the time! You buy a gun to use for varmints, or long range, or a specific bullet weight/load, or whatever. It doesn't produce accuracy up to the standards for which you hoped. What do you do? Spend tons of time and money trying to improve it? Maybe, if it's something special or you really like it. Otherwise, you sell it.

And just for the record, we won't likely cross paths on the exchange. I buy virtually all my guns from a few favourite dealers, and sell them the same way. These are businesses I trust, who have treated me fairly and honestly, and I respond in kind. When I sell or, more likely, trade guns in, I make no bones about their good points and their bad ones. On the rare occasions that I sell or buy from a private individual, it's always someone I know and trust well...and who knows and trusts me. I did one internet deal, and while it didn't turn out to be the horror show that it might have been, I won't be doing that again.

Good luck on the equipment exchange.

I think IMO they are better in rimmed cartridges............too bad they aren't available in .303 British...............Harold
