Hey All,

I have heard that H&R has ceased production. Website on Cabela's and Wholesale seems to support that. However, I have also heard they are just moving and plan to restart production elsewhere.

Has anyone got concrete evidence either way? The H&R website is still up.

Thanks!

All I have heard is that they are no longer being produced. Remington bought them up a while go and claim that they are not profitable. Time will tell.

It appeared that they went out of business last Feb. ; but a gun dealer told me today that H and R was only moving their production plant to the old Remington plant.....and would be up and running again full steam in the near future . Their website is still active......

Unfortunately, they no longer make the single-shot Handi rifles but I have heard that the pump shotguns may still be available?
Also, I have heard a rumor that Remington which owns H&R may start producing another single-shot rifle in the future but I will believe that when I see it.

Dropped into this forum for another reason, but I'll chime-in on this thread first. I was speaking with Gravel Agency several months ago, when I was searching for a Handi Rifle in a relatively obscure rimfire caliber. (17M2) I was actually talking to them about an 870 issue...but while I had them on the phone.. :)

"H&R discontinued all their single shot rifles for 2015. They are currently working on a new receiver."

"I believe the receivers are still at an early stage of production, The rifles should be reintroduced once they are satisfied with the new receivers. I can unfortunately not tell if they will produce one in 17M2 or not, but my guess would be that they will not."

I bought a 28ga. H&R last winter after a shoulder injury thinking that it would be easier on me. Maybe it was the lack of a butt pad but, for such a heavy single shot, it sure kick harder than anticipated. Nice single shot firearms, I hope they keep making them, rifles included.
