What's the difference between the two besides a 1/4 inch, 4 less shells and the chokes.
The Tamer with the full choke I assume can shoot all the same ammunition as the Survivor including slugs and 45colt?

Thanks!!

Hmmm.....

I'm kind of interested in where you found the NEF for $199 since it's $285 in the LeBaron catalogue.

I've read an article about the survival rifle/shotgun in American Rifleman years ago. It's essentially a rifled bore with a choke tube for shotshells that is supposed to stabilize the wad and provide some constriction. The .45 Colt shoot okay, but with the jump in the chamber to the rifling and lack of even basic sights, I'm not sure exactly what's the point of such a combo. I'd have been very interested in it if the design at least came with sights!

I can't say anything about the Tamer's ability to handle .45 Colt with any authority, so I won't even try to speculate about that one.

Regards,

Frank

I bought a Tamer for my Lad a few years back.
After some ejector work and a chamber polish it functions flawlessly, it's a great little shotgun imo.
so imo...buy the Tamer...and some slugs ;)

oh, and as far as I can see,the REAL difference is $40 :D

They're both H&R and both have sights.

Sorry, but I meant rear sights, since I'd probably need that in order to hit small game with the .45 Colt rounds. I'm not sure of the point of rifling if it's just going to be a point and shoot affair.

The stock on the .45/.410 looks just like the one on my NEF survivor 20ga, which is basically the same gun with a blued finish. The LeBaron catalogue does list it as H&R though.

Was that listed in a Canadian catalogue at the prices you've posted?

Would the 45 colt from a 410 have a range/effectiveness similar to using a 12g adapter of some sort?

I found the prices online at wholesale sports. I'm thinking about picking up a Tamer in the next week or two.

Good luck with Whole Sale Sports. I ordered a tamer on-line about 3 weeks ago, and it turns out they have none in stock, nor do they know when they will get any more. Even though they are aware of this, they still list the gun on the web site for sale. They are goofs.

I had a 20ga Tamer that I ended up selling that I now wish I didn't. If it had a full choke I would have kept it for sure but the 20ga does not come in full as far as I know. If your only shooting slugs then its no problem but if your using shot of any kind the IC or Mod choke is too open for my intended use. I also found the Tamer stock to be far too small in LOP and in grip size, my hand barely fit on the grip. Not sure if the Survivor is any bigger but the storage compartment in the forearm is a nice feature. I purchased a Topper 20ga full choke for my needs and put the wood stock on the Tamer which I think looked just awesome with the SS finish. I put the forearm off the Tamer on the Topper and purchased a standard butt stock from Brownells, much better fit. The thumbhole style grip also gets in the way when actually working the gun as you have to use your thumb to open the action and #### the hammer. I found a standard stock worked much better and required less maneuvering on my part. Not a big deal but something to consider. If I ever find a Tamer in full choke I'm snatching it up for sure and changing the stock to either wood or a standard synthetic. Here's the one I used to have with both style stocks.

I was playing with these today!!!!!!

I was very impressed with the quality for the price..... My boy is turning 10 next month and be fell in love with the 20 gauge. So he wants it for his birthday.

Where I was shopping, they both were $199.00.... They didn't have the 45lc/410, just the 20 and the 410.... Is that too much? Are they around for $159.00?
