I jus recently bought a H&R Tamer shotgun in .410. I have a problem with the ejector. When fired, it ejects without a hitch but on an unfired shell, it sticks 50% of the time. Does any body have the same problem and how did you fix it? Its very clean and the shell comes out with a slight tap. Will this eventually go away with wear? I've also tried different kinds of ammo, all the same problem.

Ejectors are not supposed to launch loaded shells out, the shell should be extracted from the chamber slightly so you can grab it by the rim.

correct me if i'm wrong but i guess they call it "automatic ejection" for nothing. It sure ejects it "automatically" when it works properly(might hit an eye if you're not careful!)...never seen an "automatic ejector" that you manually extract. its in there enough that i have to use a rod from the muzzle end to extract.

Sorry, for some reason I thought the problem was with loaded shells. If the live shells are sticking it is probably recoil causing the rim of the shell to skip the ejectoer and get stuck underneath it. I know several manufacturers had this problem with both rifles and shotguns.

thanks for the heads up...i`m not sure what it is because the fired shells eject with no problems. All eject properly but its just the unfired rounds. Im getting 50% fail to eject. I just dont want to have to carry a rod with me so when it comes time to unload while hunting. Basically if you put in an unfired round and then open it, it does not come out and is in there enough that you cannot use your fingers to pull out the shell. Hopefully it`ll wear in.

I have had one for about 10 months now and the same thing happened with mine when it was new. It would actually fail to eject some spent shells though.

I cleaned it lightly with a fine emery cloth and it ejects fine now. Probably only put 4 boxes through it since but no more problems.
