H&R Varmint

discontinued but come up for sale from time to time,, there is 204 ruger for sale in the EE Precision rifle forum right now,, remember it will be 223 bolt face,, which is not the end of the world but requires more machining to make 308 bolt face. $800-$1200 depending on circumstances LOL

may i ask what circumstances? lol

I am kidding,, isn't like Remington to get rid of a good thing? not sure why they discontinued,, probably like any other company these days, they are tightening up there bottom line,, by not having to machine seperate actions.??? If the best F-Class shooters in Canada are using them, That would be enough for me.

A new custom 308 bolt from Pacific Tool & Gauge can be landed for under $200.

The 223 bolt face CAN be opened up on a Remington very easily. The extractor must be modified to a claw-type such as a Sako. This can represent a safety concern if you use a dangerously hot load. Make no mistake, the type of failure you would have to have to cause such a problem would be catastrophic to the gun ANYWAY, but the Remmy design is an extremely safe one and helps prevent injuries caused by an exploding case being shot back through the extractor groove cut.

Don't load the rifle with anything that will destroy the gun and you'll be fine.

If you want a reasonably priced single shot with great potential try a T/C Encore. I get unbeleivable accuracy from mine. Your mileage may vary. You can also get many different barrels in different calibers. My 28" 22-250 will shoot 1 ragged hole at 200 yrds with 6 shots. My range only goes to 200 but on compensated targets (smaller) it does very well. Mine isn't stock by any means I have done lots of smithing to it but it is possible. Been meaning to get to Kamloops and play with Obtunded and Mystic but it never fits into my already hectic schedule.

a little kindness can go a long way

no neck has been a little testy lately, and can provide good advice or suggestions when he takes the time to think,

here we have a guy trying to see if something works and gets stompted on.

now we show him a little kindness about 6br in a remington and maybe he will understand,

I bought a cooper phoenix from prophet river (4 month or so wait) with a SS barrel and will put a remple bipod or skipod on it, not real competitive but I like it, and can play a bit,

these 6br guns will make you smile when you see how accurate, maybe this guy just wanted to experiment and did not know about the H & R lack of accuracy potential,
he might just be here to learn,

and by the way I am not a long range shooter, but like to listen to the folks that know a bit,

NICE THREAD ONCE THE PICS AND 6BR COMES OUT TO PLAY
now we show him the way
