Sorry if it's a repeat. Anyone own one(anything like it)/slash think it's a cool concept? I don't reckon it's too good for the rifling to be shooting lead/steel shot down the pipe, is it? Want one, kinda.

Anyone own any newer H&R?

I ordered their catalog and I must say that it peeked my interest. It's a cool concept for sure, but it's very H&R in "shape" if you will. They all look the same, and I'm wondering how small it could pack down compared to, say, a Springfield M6 or something.

American Rifleman did a review of the stainless, NEF Survivor version of these years ago when they first came out. For shot, they provided a straight fluted choke tube that was meant to stabilize the wad on its way out so as to avoid a scattering effect. The .45 colt cartridge seemed to shoot okay despite the freebore provided by a 3" .410 chamber, but the lack of any sights on the design limited the value of the the pistol cartridges in any practical application on small game.

I looked into some gunstores special ordering the blued version of these years ago, but when the price approached $300 I thought it too pricey for a single shot concept gun that was not going to get that much use (I have enough trouble hunting grouse with a 12 and 20 ga).

Interesting idea though!

Cheers,

Frank

I bought one earlier this year out of curiosity and for a possible "truck gun".
Nicely made, tacky plastic but with the nickle plating it's pretty impervious to damage. A compact package.
Have experienced trouble with ejecting some 410 shells, seems not to like Fiochi's. I carry a short cleaning rod now just in case I need to push the shell out. Ejects the 45's all the time (note: I've had a tough time finding reasonably priced 45's).
The storage compartment is kinda neat and will hold a couple rounds of each. Comes with a cheap but functional sling.
The 410 patterns OK, the 45 is a bit tough to shoot accuratly as there are no sights - just a bead.
I've been letting the wife shoot it as she is quite short (under 5 ft.) and it fits her well. It might become her 410 Grouse gun.
Overall, it's a fun gun, whether or not it is worth the $$ is up to you and your intended use.

$239.95 plus taxes and postage from Wholesale Sports.
I'll sell it to you for, oh $500.00 (in keeping with the usual pricing for used guns on the Exchange). :D:p

Hmm, hhhhmmmmmmm. Tempting. However, I'm afraid i couldn't pay under 650. Wholesale is a short 5 min drive from me here in Edmonton, so.......no. Thx though.:D

Oh well, some ahem, sucker, will come along. ;)
Get one and enjoy it - it really is kinda a fun gun.
If you do get one, I'd be interested in your experience with ejecting the 410 shells.

$239 for the nickel plated version sounds somewhat temping, as I recall being given a more expensive quote when I asked about getting one special ordered several years ago, and that was probably just the blued version. If it were local at that price and not for Ontario's 13% combined GST/PST, I'd probably get one without hesitation. It's really quite a pity that there aren't any rear sights on this combo though, since I'd want enough accuracy to be able to use the .45 or .410 slugs on small game.
