Looks like H.S. Precision has stepped on their corporate winky. Apparently they've endorsed Lon Horiuichi, notorious FBI sniper who is pretty much reveiled by many within the US tactical/precision shooting communities. Somebody wasn't thinking too clearly at corporate to actually put him on an H.S. Precision catalog! Whether you love him or hate him, he is simply too controversial a character to have associated with your company. Looks like the shooting industry has a really long learning curve, since it is obvious they've learned little from the recent car wrecks created by Jim Zumbo, Dan Cooper or Alex Robinson!

For those not familiar with the name Lon Horiuchi I got this off another shooting forum rather than type out my own take on it. The quoted text below pretty much sums up how many American shooters look at him. Looks like H.S. Precision is in for a bumpy ride. Too bad too, as I like their stocks.:

This should be enough to make every freedom loving American vomit. HS Precision, manufacturer of stocks and other parts for precsion rifles, is featuring an endorsement of their products by Lon Horiuchi on the back of their catalog.
...
For readers unfamiliar with Horiuchi, he is the FBI sniper who shot Vicki Weaver during the the standoff at Ruby Ridge 1992. He was also present at the 1993 Waco siege where he was again suspected of misconduct. He charged with manslaughter for Weaver's death but the charge was eventually dismissed in a Federal court, the basis for which was the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution. (Note that this ruling doesn't go to the merits of the case.) In gun owner circles, he is regarded as a murderer.

As pointed out by Arfcommer "dedfella," this is akin to having a fertilizer company get an endorsement by Timothy McVeigh. Poor taste, putting it mildly.

The owners of HS Precision would have to be living under a rock to not understand the revulsion this would incite among gunnies. Obviously, they don't give a **** about us and are only concerned with securing .gov contracts. Screw 'em.

Remember that movie "arlington road" when jeff bridges is going through the botched FBI scout mission on the cabin when the FBI runs into the kid and the kid thinks it's an attack? The FBI kills the kid and his mother etc...That is basically the theatrical version of the Ruby Ridge incident. Lon Horiuchi shot and killed Vicki Weaver but she was not the intended target. she was on the other side of a doorway her husband was retreating into. Lon Horiuchi shot at him wounding him but killing his wife who was holding their baby. The analogy that this is akin to having a fertilizer company get an endorsement by Timothy McVeigh is not far off. Sure Lon Horiuchi may have only been following orders to take the shot, but would you shoot at a 4 point buck that was standing in front of a crowded schoolyard just because you had somebody telling you to take the shot? Lon Horiuchi endorcing hs precision products is a joke that not even jerry sienfeld would come up with.

This idea that Vicki was out of sight has been subsequently discredited in several investigations that followed the incident. According to the Weaver's daughter if we accept that Randy's testimony might of been unrealiable, Vicki was standing on the porch in plain view. There is no way she could not have been the intended target, given the ability of an accomplished sniper, and those employed by the FBI are very good. It would seem likely that Horiuchi figured if he rugged Vicki that Randy would run to her aid, giving him the opportunity for a shot. It nearly worked out that way too, as Randy was wounded with the follow up shot. This was not the high point of US law enforcement.

Likewise in Waco, Horiuchi is credited with the killing of an unarmed individual, in the open. The SOB should have been charged with murder. The fact that he wasn't had more to do with the protection he received from his handlers, who knew if he went down they went down, rather than from a lack of evidence.

To me for HS to use a man who on 2 occasions has been a key instrument in the chilling of the 2nd amendment, defys logic.
Both Ruby Ridge and Waco were the result of a government agency that is out of control and answerable to no-one it seems.
For anyone to kill another person, or in this mans case, several people over a minor legal issues is morally wrong, even if he was following orders.
For HS to use this man as their poster child seems a bit suicidal to me, I would like to think that most of the American gun culture still remembers who this glorious agent of law and order is and would govern their purchases accordingly. To affirm approval of what Horiuchi represents to US law enforcement by purchasing HS products I think is also morally wrong.
