H335 for M14?

Anyone have any success with H335 powder for the M14 platform?

I know all about 4895, I use it already as a standard, but I'm looking for alternatives especially short barrel M14s, SOCOM 16 and chopped 18.5 chopped barrels.

I am using it for my plinking rounds. I am using it in conjunction with Hornady 155 gr FMJBT with cannelure. I believe budget shooters supply sells them for $225/k ish. I like them for messing around because I can just throw the powder and my old eyes don't do so good with iron sights anymore, so it shoots as good as I do (about 4-5 inches @ 100). For my M14 with the optics and the Krieger barrel, I use varget. Still working up a load for that since I haven't shot this one that much yet.

I have done it with the lighter bullets, ie: 147 fmj's and had no problem, but it is a hot powder in this caliber. In my short barrel M14, I had best luck with H4895 for accuracy and velocities. Faster powder doesn't necessarily equal better velocities out of short barrels (contrary to urban legend). In fact, I have found slightly better results with powders in the slower end of the spectrum and bullets that are a little heavier such as the 165's and/or 168's.

Interesting observation with the slower burning powder and short barrel velocity. I'm just going to have to get off my ass and try some experiments with this powder. The lower price of the H335 just makes it a tempting proposition for loading such a hungry pig.
