I was wondering if anyone uses H335 under 168 gr pills in 308? I use it under 147gr campros for plinking with half decent results. The powder is on the cheaper side and is a fairly jack of all trades powder. I use it for 223 as well and would like to keep my list of powders as short as possible. I am not concerned with temperature swings as I primarily use magnum primers in my loads.

Any thoughts by those far wiser than I in the world of handloading?

I found H335 does not fill case enough like the stick powders.
I use H335 in my 223 plinking load with good result. Being a ball powder it meters well in powder measure. It's also cheap, which fits into the plinking theme very well.
I use varget in my 223 and 308 accuracy load. Varget fills the case better and should achieve more even ignition. It's also easier to work with on a scale as weight of each kernel is very predictable.

Thanks for your input, I currently use imr4895 in my accuracy loads and am developing those for out to 800 yards. I would like my loads with H335 for out to 500. Would this be doable?

Yes you can use it. I would not use it for serious target loads, but nor harm in trying it.

If you want the ease of just throwing accurate powder charges with a ball powder, H380 or BLC2 would be a better choice. I have used both for target laods.

H335 and BLC2 are the same powder. Slow lots (Olin 846) are sold as BLC2 and the fast lots (Olin 842) get sold as H335.

BLC2 is used for 7.62 -137 gr

H335 is used for 5.56 55 gr.

H335 is best for lighter bullets and BLC2 better for heavier bullets. So I suggest BLC2 (or H380) for the 168 gr bullet.

Ok perfect thanks for all the answers all! I will take a look at some BLC2 and give that a shot!

If you're going to buy powder, I would buy either Varget or IMR4064. These are proven powders for the 168gr, 308 loads. Blc2 or H335 will work for plinking loads but if you're after accuracy, I wouldn't bother with them.

335 works OK in semi 308 and .223. Meters nice but kind of dirty and leaves more crap and cleaning chores behind in semiauto actions in my experience. I agree with previous poster who recommended IMR4064 and Varget.
