H4198 in 9mm Luger ???

I have a lot of H4198. Can this powder be used to reload 9 mm Luger? I know that lots of you guys will suggest something else, but I want to experiment with this slow to medium speed burning rate powder because I have it already on hand. Is there anything I should know about it that would prevent me of doing it? Has anyone done it already that can provide loading data?

Beside the danger to nuke National Capitol Region can you guys give me some more rational reasons behind this? Seriously.

H4198's burn rate isn't suitable for pistol calibres. It's made for rifles. It burns too slowly to generate safe gas levels in a pistol calibre.
 
I'm willing to bet that it sends the bullet a few feet out of the barrel with a stream of mostly unburnt powder following it. Or the bullet might not even leave the barrel.

And this is what you should be concerned about.

Powder is not that expensive. Go buy something suitable.
 
Yup, what the rest of them said.....very low vel., inconsistant, bullets stuck in barrel, unburnt powder everywhere, but go ahead and experiment...you might want to try Hodgdon's surplus(cheap) H-870.......
 
Yea, it's also a jewel of a powder for large bore rifles - I use it in 458 Win Mag, 43 Mauser and my 50 cal Swedish Rolling Block.

Sometimes guys come upon a large cache of powder for a great price, or want to settle on one powder for a variety of firearms. So it's fair to ask if a powder not traditionally used for a given cartridge will "work", but in this case, H4198 is just not suited to the tiny 9mm Luger straight-walled case. Even a full case would not generate enough pressure to properly ignite it.
