Does anyone know what the Min and Max loads are for a 30-06 using Hornady 150 grain SP, and Hogdon 4831 SC?
I am using CCI standard primers.

I have a Hornady manual, but it is from before the time of Hogdon's new extreme powders.

Can you substitute data from the original H-4831 for the new Short Cut stuff?

Thanks in advance.

Nate

Go to Hodgons website and you wil find data for all thier powders.

They say you can sub data, but it is always wise to work up when chaning components;)

I agree with Splatter.

I've found that 61.5 grains of H4831SC is accurate with a 165-grain bullet, and the pressures are very mild. Personally, I'd go with a faster powder for a 150-grain bullet in .30-06.

If I had to use this powder with a 150-grain bullet, I'd start with Winchester brass because it holds more powder. I'd try loads between 58 and 63 grains.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WOULD I RECOMMEND THESE LOADS FOR A GARAND!!!

I loaded 4831 sc for awhile because it metered nicely and has some temperature stability. Switched to IMR 4350 and won't go back. Also I prefer 180 gr in my 06. 150 is great in .308win. Happy hunting.
