For all of the times that I have been doing varget workup, I have been having a hard time finding the recipe. On the advice of someone at work at another unit (sniper) he told me to give H4895. His opinion of it is that it is just as temperature stable as varget would be in adverse weather conditions.

What is everybodies opinion on it? Or is it just a case of my particular rifle being picky?......

sometimes one will give you better results over the other, main contributions are cartridge and bullet choice.....but then sometimes bullet jump or jamb can yield the same results as powder choice, as can primer choice.......

Varget is more stable. But I have not found varget as easy to get a good load work up as 4895 or RL15.

I found 4895 easier to work with. My buddy said that he "accidentally" found his best recipe with 4895 in about 20 or 30 rounds. Of all the guys that I know who shoot and reload, this dude is the rainmain of bullet ballistics and reloading.

I tried Varget not long after it came out and couldn't figger out what all the hoopla was about. Back then there wasn't much interweb around so I used to phone Sierra hotline when I was in a jam, gentleman there gave me some good advice. Varget likes to be pushed hard, he was right. Since then it has replaced all the other powders in that range .
