Went to the range yesterday for the fist time in months with my .22 rifles, and I have to say today I'm coughing up a lung...yuck. :(

It was at an outside range, and there was no wind...thankfully I mainly use copper wash ammo.

Anyone else notice this effect with shooting .22 rimfire?

Usually shoot 500-1500 rounds of .22 at a time. Never had your issue. As waynesixgun said you arent eating are you? :D

You should spend some time at a black powder competition. If there isn't much wind, it gets hard to see the targets!!!

Come to think of it I was looking at my portable bench rest just now, and it has a strange pattern of GSR, so it might be the type and proximity of one of my rifles ejector ports.

It's a Mossberg 151M semi.
I know my 46M bolt action is way cleaner.

Also I have a new barrel mag in it, so maybe something is out of alignment.

Oh well I'll just have to buy another brick of ammo and do more research. :D

Never had a problem with that (and I am going through nearly 20,000 rounds a year :D). Could be the ammo, or the gun shooting "gunk" back at you (had one problem similar to that when shooting CIL ammo out of my 10.22).

Maybe its time to get a new gun (a good excuse :D)? ;)

i'll bet you had ### the night before and shooting don,t mix. VBG

I always have that ack feeling/taste in the back of my throat after shooting indoors. I've asked the other guys that shoot if they have noticed anything similar and some do, some don't, so there ya have it, you're not alone. How ever with me it's gone in a couple of hours after shooting, never noticed it the next day.

You're not shooting Aguila (Mexican) rimfire are you? I think the primer in that stuff smells something like a good egg fart.

I was using federal copper wash...da' blue 525 round box from Cambodian tire. :D

I know the ammo you are talking about though, as I have had the displeasure of smelling it at the range when someone else was using it.

Almost as stinky as Norinco Silver box for the SKS.

You get the same smell from PMC Scoremaster.....I love the look on people's faces when I shoot that stuff.
