Stumbled upon the Hackathorn Standards at firearmstrainingandtactics.com the other day so I decided to give them a try.
Handgun Standard Exercise: Hackathorn Standards
300 Points - 60 Rounds (No Make Up Shots)
3 x IPSC Metric Targets spaced 1 yard apart edge to edge (left to right) 5' - 6' - 4' high at top of head.
A = 5 pts
C = 3 pts
D = 2 pts
Entire Head = 5 pts
Miss = 0 pts
Overtime shots do not count for score.
All stages start holstered unless otherwise noted. No concealment required.
String #1--5 yards--1 rd on each head freestyle--3 sec
String #2--5 yards--1 rd on each head strong hand--4 sec
String #3--5 yards--1 rd on each body strong hand--3 sec
String #4--5 yards--1 rd on each body strong hand--3 sec (repeat of String #3)
String #5--8 yards--2 rds on left target freestyle--2 sec
String #6--8 yards--2 rds on center target freestyle--2 sec
String #7--8 yards--2 rds on right target freestyle--2 sec
String #8--10 yards--El Presidente; start facing uprange w/6 rds in gun, turn and draw, 2 rds each target, slide lock reload, 2 rds on each target--10 seconds
String#9--10 yards--weak hand pickup; gun on ground, butt to strong side, start standing, strong hand in small of back, retrieve handgun, 1 rd on each target (kneeling or standing)--5 sec
String #10--12 to 8 yards--2 rds each target while moving forward from 12 yds--5 sec
String #11--15 yards--transition drill; start with hands at shoulder level as if holding rifle, 1 rd on each target--4 sec
String #12--20 yards--start standing; drop to prone, 2 rds on each target--10 sec
String #13--25 yards--start behind barricade; 2 rds on each target standing, perform tactical reload under cover(retain/stow partial mag), 2 rds on each target kneeling--24 sec
I shot it with a stock (except for a Dawson FO front sight and an STI Magwell) STI Trojan in .45 ACP (major PF). My Holster is a Comp-Tac belt holster.
My final score was 249 including 2 misses but no overtime shots (in fact, I shot String 13 with almost 10 seconds to spare!) String 9 was a bit tricky as my Trojan is not equipped with an ambi safety but I still managed to keep it under the time limit but none of the hits were 'A's.
(From the firearmstrainingandtactics.com site, the highest score ever recorded was 298 by Larry Vickers. The highest ever first time score was 290 by Rob Leatham. Jerry Barnhart's first time score was 277.)
