The wife gave birth to my son 4 days ago after a long string of girls so I went out that day and bought a SKS. I think it will be cool to tell him that story and pass that rifle along one day and I'm sure he will be amazed that I only paid $200. Its just like my folks taking of barrels full of Enfields and plentiful and cheep surplus ammo that one can only dream about these days. Its a '53 Tula in great shape with no stock repairs and I was told by the previous owner it had not been fired since it was refurbed.

Congratulations on the birth of your son & congrats on the SKS! You are right, he will look back on that $200 rifle & be amazed at how little you paid for it the year he was born!

Hey Congratulations,

I too just had a son! And bought a gun! My first rifle...I went american though and bought a Savage Mark II. I hope I can keep it in good shape to pass on to my boy in 15 years. I know that SKS will!
