By a curious twist of fate, I ending up dining with Ryan and Chris of the hunting chronicles in Johannesburg. We were all stranded in Africa due to the ash cloud over Europe and the North Atlantic, as we all had to transit Europe on the way home. It started in the line up for dinner at the hotel the airline put us up in, I recognized the familiar accent, and asked where they were from, "Canada, we were over here on a hunting safari.", to which came my surprised "Me too," then on it went. Soon I realized I'd seen Ryan in an infamous wolf charge video on youtube, and we had a good laugh at how small the world was, and went on from there.
Ryan, Chris, and Ryan's son had taken 15 species if I remember correctly, all planned to be packed into just 4 shows, should be a good run of "African Hunting Chronicles". I liked their philosophy, little fluff, as much action as possible, and it was interesting hearing how much they had to pass up because the filming angle wouldn't work for TV. Kind of makes me want to watch TV and see the show... I don't even have a TV at present. Thought the "odds" were pretty amusing on this one, running into a Canadian hunting show's cast, in Africa, from close to where I live and work oddly enough too.
