Half Polar bear half grizzly Killed

$50,000 for guides and the right to hunt a polar bear...

...yikes.

I'll let my wife in on that one the next time she gets on my case for spending money on a moose trip up North.
 
Well, that was $50K for two hunts. Glad I finally saw pics of the "pizzly" bear as we're calling it here. I thought for sure the government was going to screw him. Glad to see I was wrong.

Martell's up in Coppermine chasing real grizzlys this week. I wish I had a problem like that!

Its not called Coppermine anymore, it's Kuglugtuk. I found that out the hard way a couple of years ago when I flew in and they wouldn't answer my radio calls till I said Kuglugtuk. Glad they don't have a busy airport ;)

Luckily I was referring to the river, which is still the Coppermine. But you're absolutely right. Every once in a while they change a name up here just to keep me on my toes (I'm convinced). I listened to the weather reports for damned near 8 months before I had the epiphany that they never talked about the weather in Holman, but they kept telling us about this "Ulukhaktok". Guess what Holman's new name is.:D
 
50 large

as a guide and bush pilot I understand inflation. 50 K though thats just rape, hell No damm bear is worth that much, but then again some geezer dropped a cool mil to shoot a bighorn, wished I had there budgets. Keep your stick on the ice.
 
wow so it has been confirmed that it is in fact a hybrid :D That is very interesting. Maybe that will blow the $h!t out of the PETA theory that all the polar-bears will be dead with in 20 years. It shows what evolution is about, they will become pizzlys as others have said but there DNA will live on.
