From the discussions around the firepit comes another conundrum:

I say the half #### on a lever is a safety and my buddy says is isn't.

What do you guys think? :?:

Tell your buddy he's a dummy.

Unless your buddy is the hottie in your avatar. Then play "Strip Gun Knowledge". You'll win for sure, especially with your CGN buddies as referrees.

WHEW!!!!! - when i saw the title i thought you'd had a terrible belt sander accident...

It's definately a saftey. Your buddy's a boob. Hit him over the head with a rolled up copy of the firearms course book.

Why else would there be a half #### for??

Same as on a muxxle loader or a break action hammer gun(or rifle)...
Tell yopur buddy that he is half cocked!!

Regretfully it is a safty . I have never been comfortable with just that . There is a reason behind the saying " Going off half cocked " not for me though.

That's the arguement. I cannot disagree with it.

I'm a full time memebr of LAA (Lever Action Aholics) and I can't disagree with the inherent danger with taking the hammer off half #### as no other safety has that issue, but when that sucker is on no drop or blow will set it off.

My BLR has a cool hammer break on it. Gp to half #### and the hammer thumb pull pushes forward for an extra bit of safety.

Ironic that the .30.30 is a popular first time rifle for many first timers and the half #### is the safest when on but most danderous when letting it off or pulling to full ####. :?

Did I just say pulling to full ####? I need to get laid.
