Halloween costume with antique firearm

How about these then? Replicas of antiques are legal, no-one can get hurt. Tough question is whether Blondie or Tuco would be cooler.

I did look at cowboy action, definitely. I'm into ipda type stuff right now but hope to get to cowboy action in the summer, but the necessity for dual pistols was tempering, I can afford one Pietta Colt navy and a holster and some accessories, but two, and a shotgun and carbine would be too much startup cost.

Around your neck on a leather lanyard, no question, Tuco is the way to go.

i dont quite understand why everyone has such a problem with this,
it's completely legal.
being stopped by the cops and having them say "oh, sorry, that is legal" and leave doesnt seem like cause not to do something.

That may or may not be the response. Particularly if the individual has had something to drink - not unknown to happen at a party.

It can take time for the police to decide that something is legal especially while you sit in the drunk tank till morning :pand they'll even have the nerve to kick you out just before breakfast is served the next day.:)

pack one of those ridiculous looking "super soakers" filled with your favorite kind of booze and squirt some to anyone that asks ... put a piece of masking tape on it with the type of whatever gun it's supposed to represent ... almost guarantees you to be the star of the night if the rest of the costume is decent ;)

Oh wait, even if it's cap and ball and completely unloaded, does a Remington 1851 revolver still have to be registered, as a restricted, and obey all the rules of such?

If it's an original not repro it does not need to be registered but it is still classed as a firearm 'just exempt from registration because of its age . and antique status

???

Huh!?!

If you own one, then you know that's the case. Please don't make me look stupid; Lucky, I stood up for you when it was tossed around that you might be a gnarly dude living under a bridge who likes to eat children.

Bobby.

HaHaHa :D Ya really not looking to good there is it Bobby!

now you're talking about public intoxication. that isn't relevant . it's a totally different issue.

you can't say legally carrying a gun is a bad idea because you'll be traipsing around drunk.

Hey I'm just a guy who likes guns and wants to have a really good costume for once in his life. Don't have one (BP revo) yet. No matter how many times I read the laws on that justice site I'm always going to be confused by them, and the FAQs here don't really even scratch the surface of the complexities. I'd read threads where people could go hunting with antique handguns because this and that law didn't apply, and I was just wondering. Heck even now people are disagreeing on the law, did I mention it's confusing?

So yea I realize that repros are restricted, but not originals.

If it's a repro handgun, it's a restricted firearm, period.

In the hunting thread they went into a bit of detail on this and that 762.545cbsba(i) subsection17, and so-on that mean it's restricted, but this and that and the other aspect of 'restricted' don't apply.

To simplify the question, How can I complete my costume and wear it at a party, legally?

A long time ago, i lent a buddy some stuff to complete his "mexican Banditio" outfit, including a "bandolier" full of live sotgun shells and a holster and gunbelt full of live handgun cartridges. He topped it wiht a fake revolver...
Probably woudl't do that today...:)

"...an unloaded, non-restricted firearm, doesn't have to be cased..." Read the Ontario hunting regs. You have to comply with ALL of the laws, not just the FA.
"...How can I complete my costume and wear it at a party, legally?..." Buy a toy gun. Not exactly easy to find anymore though. Especially a full sized toy gun.

Ok, Lucky..... a non-firing reproduction is legal, a real-deal antique is legal, and a reproduction of a percussion/flintlock pistol is required to be a registered, restricted firearm.

If you don't own a genuine antique six-shooter with papers, then buy a repro of an old six shooter from the states! No problem, they're usually heavy and nice.

OK...guys don't encourage him....

...last we need is more bad press.

Look at the Criminal Code and Firearms Act. (Look at local by-laws too). It is not legal.............including non-restricted.

as I already said a man was arrested he took his unregistered firearm to a public protest to protest the new gun registry . he was arrested for having it at a public gathering not because it was unregistered. It is also just a bad idea .

Whats the law on dewats? Can they be carried in public etc..? I bet some liberals would #### their pants if you were trick or treating with a dewat bren and bags of "high capacity assault rifle banana magazines".
