Anybody have a 1911 that allows the thumb safety to be engaged with the hammer down. Anyone see a problem with that?

Generally, the 1911 doesn't allow the safety to be set with the hammer down. The choices are:
Condition 1 - Cocked and locked (flip the safety to fire)
Condition 2 - One up the pipe - hammer down - safety off (#### the hammer to fire)
Condition 3 - Chamber empty - hammer down - safety off (rack the slide to fire)

The 1911 was designed to be safe when carried loaded in the cocked and locked position. Why monkey with it?

RePete's got it. I'm asking if you guys think the normal function of a 1911 should allow the safety to be engaged with the hammer down.
