Hammer down with CZ SP-01

So, I just attempted this on my CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow and noticed that when trying to safely lower the hammer, the hammer sticks ever so slightly before releasing itself the rest of the way down. The hammer appears to drop without issue when I am shooting or dry firing. However, when I attempt to lower the hammer using the method in the video above (or any of the other methods), the hammer will move less than a millimeter and then stop. At this point, I can't just finishing lowering the hammer with my thumb as it will not move if there is any resistance at all. I have to move my thumb slightly off the hammer. At this point it "jumps" and I have to make sure my thumb catches it before it drops on the firing pin.

Has anyone experienced this? Thx.

Thanks for the reply, but it's definitely not going to the half-#### position. I hold my finger/thumb down on the hammer and then pull and hold the trigger. And then it moves very slightly before stopping and it won't move until my finger/thumb is just lifted off the trigger (i.e. - it hiccups and doesn't allow me to ease it down in one fluid motion). I have no problem performing the same action with my 1911, however.

Play with the overtravel screw, probably sticking out too much

Thanks for the reply. After looking at your reply, I did a bit more of an Internet search and it appears that an over-tightened overtravel screw is my most-likely culprit. From what I have read, it seems the hammer is catching ever so slightly on the sear as it's being released, thus causing my hickup. I have tested this by pulling the trigger back very slowly without cocking the hammer first and at the end of travel, the hammer hesitats for a second or two before dropping.

Unfortunately, I only have a precision hex bit right now that doesn't fit securely in the set-screw. So, I'll have to wait until I pick up an angled micro-allen key kit tomorrow to adjust the screw.

Thanks again for the reply.

I've seen three NDs with a Shadow in my time shooting IPSC. Every time it happened: the shooter was in a rush.

Do it how you feel the most comfortable and take your time.

probably because the model without the decocker is nicer and has a better trigger and you can put flush safeties on it?

this is what happens when you buy a gun that is built over 40 year old design.

Just buy a Sig.

lol (hang on I am gonna hide behind a rock now)
