Just bought an older 336A for a fellow at work. Am scoping it for him, but need a hammer spur.

Uncle Mikes lists two types of hammer spurs for 336s. 1957-1982 and 1982 to present. This rifle shows DOM at 1956. Ser# is P198XX. Hammer measures 0.280" wide.

Any one have a 336 (1957-1982) that they can measure the hammer to compare to mine?

THANKS! :)

0.280" sounds about right

I've got these two sitting here collecting dust. PM me if you would like one.

My 1975 Marlin hammer spur is narrower than the 1985 Marlin I sold to a hunting partner.
I liked the newer one better as it sat lower and the butt of the hammer didn't roll over it.
The only conclusion I could come up with is the newer cross bolt safety made for a
wider hammer, hence the wider gap for the spur to fit over.
This is my experience, and not sure whether other developments made things different.
