I had thought that at the Olympic level, they were pushing a move towards air power, rather than firearms.
Can't help but wonder if the difficulty in getting match quality short ammo had anything to do with the decision.
Always wanted a Rapid Fire pistol, but too expensive to have just because they are interesting. Same for the air side. The Rapid Fire air pistols don't give up anything on price to the firearm versions, by any means.
Guys that think that hitting a paper plate at 10 yards is the paradigm of accuracy really need to try out a good match grade pistol of about any sort. The ability to stack bullet holes or pellets one on top of the other, from a machine rest, will sort out whether or not the accuracy is the pistol or the shooter, in a hurry.
I got a deal on Pardini K60 CO2 gun several years back, as the CO2 guns were just starting to slide from fashion, and shooting that was an eye opener! Fun to hunt grasshoppers with! Sold it on to someone that had more practical use for it though.. It was an education in accuracy, for sure.
