I am thinking of buying a used Hammerli X-esse pistol. I know very little about them. Any fellow Gun Nutz out their care to share their experiences with this pistol? What are they worth both new and used? Any issues with them?

I have two. The 6" and the 5".
The retail new is anywhere between $800 and $1100 depending on the model. I don't know what they sell for used.
They are both very accurate. Great trigger, much better than anything you'll find on a Mk III. Easy to take apart and clean.
I put the optional barrel weight on the 6" to reduce muzzle flip because they're fairly light with the plastic grips.
They have the 11mm rail for mounting optics.
You don't want to be running any high velocity bulk ammo through these; they are designed for target velocity +/- 1050 fps.

I have use them, very nice pistol, but a bit light if you are used to a steel target gun, but as last post said you can replace the standard front " weight" which is plastic with a steel one,
which I never did. I had the target grips very nice, but expensive, adjustable.
I was 100% reliable ,this was 10 years ago.
These would be a very good beginners match gun.
BTW, I still have a couple of new mags in stock for these.

I once owned one and I regret selling it. It was made by the original Hammerli factory before being bought up by Walther. I have not handled any of the new Walther ones, but the one I had was fantastic. According to the manual that came with it, you COULD run high-velocity .22 in it, but realistically you probably shouldn't. I bought the orthotic grip for it too. If you plan to compete in a local bullseye league, it's ahead of running a Ruger, a million miles ahead of the current cheapo alloy .22 1911's currently de rigueur. But if you eventually want to be more seriously competitive in ISSF bullseye matches, you'd be better off to find a used Walther GSP or Pardini. Definitely a better buy than a S&W model 41 in my opinion.

I have bought and shot just about every .22 pistol out there other than a Pardini (although that is next :) )

I was singularly unimpressed with the hammerli auto loader. Trigger was vague (really vague), sight radius was not too bad, fit and finish was good but not impressive in a 1300.00 gun.

Accuracy left a lot to be desired even with Eley, SK or anything else. But it did cycle 100%

My Smith & Wesson 46 shot rings around it.My 41 shot slightly better than it. From a bench, from a ransom rest, or standing freestyle or single handed.

Maybe I got a bad one? I sold mine within 6 months of purchase.

I even had other people try it. Same results.

Mine shoots xring at 25 yards out of a ransom rest with Federal 714 ammo.

Think you got a bad one. Sure it was an Xesse? 1300 is overpriced.

Yup. Black case, Xesse in red lettering, wierd safety, black grips, dun colored slide,2 mags, Hammerli logo on the slide, and the terrible trigger from hell.

Beautiful looking gun, pointed well (I will admit that) and decent balance if a little light.

I tend to think i got a bad one in terms of accuracy. Everyone makes a lemon once in a while.

Mine looked like this

Here is a picture of the pistol my friend wants to sell. It is more money than I want to spend as I am only a casual plinker and don't shoot in competitions. I may transfer it into my name in order to sell it for my buddy.

RFO1 that is just like the one I use to shoot.
back when I had it, they where in the 800.00 price range with the standard black grip
They have a two stage trigger, and is your are not use to this type, takes a bit to get use to it.
I don't know remeber about the safty, never use on a target pistol at the range.
