Hammond game getter

It can be a PITA juggling blanks and lead balls trying to reload while flock shooting chickens.I found it easier to use cast and pistol powder as it is quicker.

Yeah... To each his own.

^ you're right... But if you're hunting a whole flock of grouse, use a .22. The Game Getter wasn't intended to be a hunting tool. It's intended to be a "grab-something-on-the-way-back-to-camp-for-the-pot-cuz-it'll-taste-better-than-deer-track-soup" tool.

I have brained a grouse with a rock but was a once in a lifetime shot as I never could throw anything straight. Those fools hens come in handy when you have had a zero day of anything else.
If you talk to Hammond he will even make a Game Getter with your own cases if you have a tighter chamber or wildcat. One guy sent him cases that showed signs of really high pressure once and he contacted him back to tell him this and the guy said he liked to shoot that way and not worry.

That and it is very very compact... 5-10 rounds takes up about as much room as a bic lighter

I don't use a Gamegetter.
I use a single #4 buckshot pellet in front of 2 grains of Bullseye in my .243. I keep 4 or 5 of the buckshot rounds in my pocket for grouse.

Has anyone made small game loads for the 7mm Rem Mag with Trail Boss or other pistol powder?

Is it safe to do so with a cartridge with greater case capacity and is a lighter or heavier bullet weight recommended?

150ish gr cast bullet with high single digit charge weights of 700x and a tuft of Dacron to hold it around the primer works and I'd expect the velocity to be north of 900fps... Cast boolits has some info on doing this.
Your still gunna be in 1400fps territory with TB and a jacketed bullet... TB can be quite dirty unless your over 70% case volume but that again is a generalization I run with after trying it in several calibers...

I was using one yesterday in an all original military Swedish Mauser 6.5x55. Fun...using green blanks....zero at 25 yards by setting rear sight to 400 meters. Still won't chamber in my 6.5 Sako though. Military chamber must be bigger. I don't have any reason to use it....its just fun to fool around with...like most guns and ammo.

I have one too. It is not by Hammond tho, very accurate out to 35ish yards. In a savage levergun in .308 I can put them in the same hole at 25 yds . haven't had it out hunting or gophering but would expect good results. If nothing else it is a cool toy to show your buds at the range. Oh yes rifle is scoped.:dancingbanana:

I use something similar.
