Got a Tapsco stock for my Norinco SKS yesterday and was installing it last night. No problems until I went to install the handguard. The instructions say knock out a pin that holds the rear cover that holds the wood hand guard onto the gas tube. I can see the outline of what appears to be a pin, but light tapping on it does not move it. I would swear it looks welded in place. Anyone every removed this pin before?
I like the stock, although it will make access to the button behind the trigger harder to use. Also the pistol grip could have been done better. They use a large screw into the plastic stock to retain it. I might modify it later to have a carriage bolt hold it in place so you can remove the pistol without worry of stripping the plastic. The hand guard comes with a built in rail. I also like the adjustable AR style stock.

Some others here have pins like yours, I was lucky as mine was out with one tap of a hammer and fine punch.

Perhaps your pin is simply peen-ed over...support the gas tube well before you start banging things around.
