Ok I was just wondering since there is a gun auction I go to a few times a year and when I registered that asked if I belong to a club I told them no. 90% of the handguns sold go home that day but there is always that odd couple that they can't complete the transfer on and they won't be going home that day. Just wondering why that would be. It is a 2 hour ride in one direction and I wouldn't want to be one of the few.

Dirt cheap and within 100 kilometres of the GTA don't go together. The Ontario CFO has been doing lots of range inspections over the past couple years, with LOTS of upgrades required to most ranges. If you want dirt cheap, it is going to an outdoor only range in the middle of nowhere.
 
Welol there is my dirt cheap club in the middle of no where lol, first year membership is hight, but after that, its 130 a year. HCMCnet.com

I talked a friend into getting his RPAL a few years back and after he did, and attempted to buy a pistol he was told that he could not purchase before proving he had a range membership. So I bought the gun he wanted with the understanding that when he did join a range I would sell it to him. I also think it depends which moron at the CFO happens to answer the phone that day. I sometimes wonder if THEY actually know what the laws are. :jerkit:

Most of the girls at the Ontario CFO do know what the laws are, however it depends on HOW you talk with them. A little charm and tact go a long way....
 
What if you are a member of a club, have a LTATT, get a few handguns, etc., and then after a few years, let your club membership expire because you get busy with work/studies/travel, etc.

Will you then get a knock from the OPP or something? Or a call from the CFC demanding that you renew your membership?

Then your LTATT expires and you keep your restricted locked up until you renew your membership. Your still a target shooter, just not active at the moment. Lots of people take a year or two off for various reasons.

Don't lie to the CFO about a club. If you don't know which one you want to join yet, then just say that.

If you don't keep up your club membership (this is in Ontario) the club must sent your name to the CFO and they can revoke your LTATT if you are not a member of another club.
 
I just got approved for my first handgun here in Ontario by the CFO. I don't have a Membership(I plan on joining though soon)at a club, and it took me I think 7-8 business days. I have'nt recieved anything in the Mail yet, but I called into the Registry and they told me that it has been approved by the CFO. Now the seller of the CZ-75, I just bought from another CGN member in B.C. called in to verify and to get a short term ATT and now its in the mail.

Hopefully when I get my Club Membership, it won't be as long as a process the next time I buy a pistol.
