What you're thoughts on hand loading kits in .308 for a semi auto.

i recommend something like the RCBS rock chucker kit, its a single stage, so lower volume BUT for a new re loader its important to understand what happens at each and every stage of the reloading process. it comes complete minus a tumbler and case trimmer.

Some type of single stage press or turret press and Full Length Sizing dies for .308, a case trimming set up, manual, digital calipres, priming tool (or prime on press), scale and a powder measure like the RCBS Uniflow or Chargemaster.

Rockchucker kit or Lee 50th or Classic Turret all come to mind with Lee or RCBS .308 Win FL dies and appropriate loads/bullets/powders for your semi auto (M14?) With many kits you don't get a case trimmer, you WILL need one for sure.

Not a bad investment to buy a manual first to get an idea of how it works and what you will need. You'll need one anyways. Lyman 49th, Speer #14, Lee 2nd Ed.

i think you have one or 2 days left to buy one from phrophet river firearms. the rock chucker supreme kit is all you need besides dies, shell holder. 300$ plus a 50$ mail in rebate to RCBS.

Some semi auto,pump action, and lever action firearms do fine with standard dies, but small base dies are an option if you do have issues with standard dies.
