Who has used one of the hand presses (Lee for instance)?

Likes, dislikes, recommendations?

Could see feel, portability, low cost as positives and less stability and no free hands as negatives. However, having zero reloading experience...

Also, anyone used one of the little handtool sets for rifle reloading?

Cheers

They are useful for anything that has to be done at the range such as deprime and wash BP cases or anything you can't do at your reloading bench. Nothing takes the place of a big single stage press anchored down properly for my needs.

I use the LEE Hand Press, Don't have a heated shop and not enough room for a good in door loading bench! I personally think that it works great! Mind you I wouldn't want to sit and try to make a couple hundred rounds, The bullet seating gets a little clumsy! Great for whipping up some test loads! Thats My .02!!

When and if you want to try one drop me a line and I can ship mine down to you. It is okay for the sizing but like stated above bullet seating is interesting. I wouldn't want to load more then 20 or so with it but for sizing on the couch it can't be beat.

If you're using boat tail rounds the seating isn't nearly as difficult as you can jam them into the mouth of the case enough that both hands can operate the press.

the press is stiff enough that you can hold it in one hand upright without the ram moving upwards, this leaves one hand free to insert the case and then insert the bullet. It is fun trying to load near full cases as it is hard to keep everything in an upright position. I bought one so a buddy could size his brass before tying up my press to seat his bullets. Every now and then I think about getting rid of it but sometimes a guy just wants to lounge on the couch and still be productive :D

Lineofsight, I am more then likely shooting the matches in sechelt on may 31 and june 1, bring a tent as we are camping out on the range.

IIRC saturday is rimfire silhoette folowed by rimfire bench match shoots at 100 200 and 300 meters. Sunday is centerfire with offhand levergun targets at 100 and 200 yards as well as a few other things thrown in the mix, I will have to go threw 1000 emails to confirm the excact details. May 11 is 500 meter centerfire in Cambell River and 300 meter egg shoot. classes for both custom and factory.
