The worst thing about being out of reloading for a few years is going through all your stuff and asking yourself... "What the hell was that used for!?"

Anyway, I'm sorting through all my stuff, in preperation of reloading again, and seeing if there's anything else I might need to buy. So I come across my hand primer tools, and I remember that I liked using them better then the primer seater on the press because you can feel the primers being seated. I seem to have 2 different tools. I know the grey one is probably an old RCBS. The shell holder on it is threaded in and it has an F on. The other tool (LEE?) is larger and I have a spare red part (seater?) for it. This shell holder has an 11 on it. I also appear to have pins kicking around for one or both of these tools. I'm not sure what sizes the F and 11 are supposed to represent but it looks like the newer style of hand primer tools take the same shell holders as the press does so I might be better off to just buy a newer hand primer tool. Suggestions? :)

The top hand primer is a Lee and they were good ones, they used special screw in shellholders with their own set of numbers, and you can't get them anymore....I wish I could get shellholders for it in all the calibers i currently reload for!!

I believe the newer RCBS hand primer tool takes the same shellholders as the press but I think the Lee one still uses its own unique set of of priming shellholders.

I think they are both Lee. The grey one is the old style that uses now obsolete threaded shell holders. The silver one is a newer Lee that uses their proprietary slide in shell holders. I started with the old style and now use a new one but with a built in primer feed tray. It does everything I want it to do.

FYI the Lee #11 is for the 44Spl or Russian/44Rem Mag/444Marlin/45Colt or 454 Casull..Bring back any memories now??:D

It sure does! Thanks so much! :D
That would have been what I was using for reloading my .44 Magnum.

The shell holder with the F on, if memory serves me correctly was for the .243/.270 size cartridges.
