Any advice on which hand primer is better? The Lee vs. the RCBS.I am new to this and have some shell holders for each. Thanks folks.

I am not impressed with the Lee, it seems you really have to watch that you are not leaving the primers seated high. The RCBS is better, but I think you should check out the one sold by Sinclair Intl. It's a little pricier than the RCBS, but you get what you pay for. I use the RCBS bench mounted priming tool and think it is a much better system then any of the hand priming tools.

if you can close your hand with a decent grip, either does the same job- if you're limp-wristed, that's where the high primers come in- in my experience , rcbs tends to make you pay for the priviledge of being a reloader and using rcbs- either that or green paint costs more than red

+++ for the Sinclair model, I picked one up on ebay, it is fantastic, and much better than my Lee hand model

While you at the Sincair Int'l web site, check-out which hand primers they sell.

Their own, beautiful unit, and the Lee. How many other Lee products in theor catalog? None.
Sinclair doesn't carry stuff that doesn't do the job. The Lee works just fine.

I've never had a problem with the Lee; have loaded several thousand rounds with it...

Well I guess if you reload Federal brass that has fired twice so the primer pockets are expanded the Lee will work, but with good brass the handle bends until it touches the tool and the ####ing primer is still too high. Thanks but I'm beyond buying junk when good tools are available.

Hand Primers

Thanks fellas for the insight."Limp wristed"....as a matter of fact it's broken and in a cast as we speak. You folks are highly intuitive.Sounds as though I will toss a coin on this one(left handed)and go in that direction. Thanks again.

I've worn out/broken 2 Lees in over 25 years of reloading. They're cast crap but quess what I'm still useing? A more solid one would be better I suppose but I shoot everthing from fairly small to quite big and never have a problem. I do moniter the seating depth all the time though.

I broke my Lee, too, after about a 1000 rounds. Bought an RCBS and haven't looked back. The Lee shell holders aren't interchangeable with my RCBS gear either.

The Sinclair and the K & M are two of the nicer high end units, the RCBS and Hornady are good bang for the bucks. As good as the Lee might be for the money I just can't bring myself to own one but that's just me I guess.

My last bulk priming job was loading virgin Lapua brass. My well used Lee Autoprime worked perfectly.
If you've got a a source for brass that is of consistantly higher quality than Lapua, it's time to let us all in on the secret.
