Hand Priming Tool?

Rcbs universal. One for small and one for large so no more changing back and forth. I had the rcbs one that uses shell holder. The one that uses strips on press priming by rcbs and Lee and a hornady hand primer and the rcbs universal is my fa orite

This was the reason I got a second universal one. I also have the RCBS priming tool that takes shell holders. I found it would always seat the primers all the way in, too deep for my liking. The universal seats the primers just below the base surface, which I'm told is the best way to seat primers.

Primers should be set "Bottomed out" otherwise the Firing Pin will push them forward first before firing resulting in poor accuracy !

Cheers

I seat my primers according to the instructions that came with my Forster Co-Ax press. They specify that primers should be seated .005" below flush, not pushed all the way in. Obviously priming on the Co-Ax achieves this. Using the RCBS universal also seats the primers about .005" below flush. I'm not one to have experienced accuracy issues from this. Could it be that Forster is wrong about priming cases?

I have to say, I will be loading test rounds with the primers pushed all the way in and see if I see a difference with ES and SD on the chrono.

+1 on the RCBS Universal - never had an issue with the tool running the strip primers on the handgun or the rifle casings ..... AND the primer depth is always consistent

Very timely advice and many here agree. I need a hand primer for an oddball caliber and I was thinking about the Lee primer. I’ll be getting the RCBS universal because of this thread. Thanks guys in advance for saving me from aggravation.
