Handguard cap rattle?

So I recently installed a daniel defense EZ Car 7.0 on my AR, carbine length. It seems to fit fine and doesnt move.. However I noticed the handguard cap rattles a bit, as if its not snug between the gas block and the quad rail. If i try and pull the top and bottom part of the rail away from each other near the front of the gun, you can see a tiny bit of movement.. Does this matter? It doesnt move at all otherwise. The ez car has 4 locking screws by the delta ring as well.

Is there anyway to make the handguard cap not rattle without removing the gas block?

It may have not seated properly when you removed the old handguards and installed the new ones. Can you post a picture so we cab help you identify what might be going on a little better? Any drop in rail I've ever used was snug and tight to both the delta ring and handguard cap, so this seems a little unusual.

is it possible the handguard is too short or something? Like the gas block may be mounted too far forward or something? I dunno.. It seems pretty snug but it just rattles a bit.. Also if i pull on the delta ring i can move it back, is that normal? One of the guys at my local shop actually installed it.. So I dunno what he did. But I assume its supposed to be pretty straight forward.

I have been working like crazy lately, havent had time to take pics, but ill try to tonight...

It's hard to say without physically seeing it or handling it. Try removing it and reinstalling. Its a drop in rail so they are incredibly easy to remove and reinstall. It nay not be locked in the barrel nut teeth properly as well.

hmm yeah. I am prett sure its just the gas block is a tiny tiny bit too far forward or something, so its not pressing back on the cap i.e. not pressing against the handguard.

What brand of AR is it? Also it is a fixed or low pro gas block? If it's a low pro, you could try readjusting it.

its an armalite upper on a sabre defence lower... Its a low pro gas block..

The handguard isnt moving at all really because of the 4 locking screws on the barrel nut/delta ring.. but its just me being OCD about the hand cap rattling a bit.. i feel like its not totally secure lol.

Ah ok it's that AR. The gas block might be seated forward ever too slightly, I've never seen a low pro gas block with a handguard cap on it myself, maybe someone else would know more?

the last handguard that was on there was also a quad rail, but it was a pretty cheap one i think, very basic, but it fit tight against the cap.. i upgraded to the DD one thinking it would be better...It is higher quality, but i wonder why its a tiny bit shorter...

Hmm..well like I said, when you get time tonight post some pics so we can help. I'm pretty good at troubleshooting ARs as I built one of mine and have a decent understanding of how they work and are assembled.

is it a set screw low profile gas block? could it have moved when the previous quadrail was installed? if like you say it fit tight and this newer better one fits loose could be thats what happened?

and on another note i believe that some small dents or divets can be drilled in to keep those set screws from slipping on the barrel. if you mark your barrel and your gasblock so you can maintain alignment and then remove the set screws you could use a punch or a drill bit to create the little divet for the set screw to get a grip on. this will keep the gas block from moving if done correctly. something to think about anyways that and locktite.
