Handguard question?

Good folks, I am trying to figure this out. Does the standard handguard on an M14 have a barrel band that secures it? If so do they usually sell with the band?

There's a metal band at the breach end of the handguard that clips it to grooves in the barrel. Whether you get that clip or not depends on where you buy the handguard. Many don't come with it, such as one from boyds, but all, wood or fiberglass, use it.
