Hey guys,

Nabbed myself a shorter Norc to play around with from the EE, hasn't even arrived yet and I'm already looking to make some changes to make it mine, like most any AR I guess haha. Looking to get some different handguards on there so I can throw a vertical grip on. Looking to keep the front sight post installed as well, instead of switching to a railed gas block. I currently have a 16" Stag, which came with the DiamondHead setup installed, so I've never had to mess with the handguards. Not opposed to quad rails, but I would like some sleeker, similar to the DiamondHeads I have on my Stag, so I can just throw a small rail section on the 6 o'clock and be done. Not interested in the Magpul offerings at this time.

Just wondering what you guys might be using, what you find works well, and what actually fits there - I see the rails come in just about every length from 7" on past 15", no idea what one would fit the 10.8 barrel. Feel free to post up a picture of what you're running if possible.

No one? I've figured out I need to get carbine length to fit, so that's a start. Now I'm just trying to decide to go free float or fixed. The fixed installation seems simplier, and since I will only be attaching a sling and a foregrip, it might be better than going through the trouble of installing a free float. Any comments?

I've got my eye on the Midwest and Daniel Defense offerings from Wolverine.

The issue with Norcs in general seems to be that the FSB is on there to stay. Without removing it, a one piece set up is next to impossible to install. If all you're looking for is a foregrip and a sling location, you can install a short piece of rail to the bottom of the stock grip, and Arms East sells a side mounted M4 sling swivel that clamps around the barrel at the FSB. Lot's of real deal shooters run this set up if they don't need a DBAL/White light. Another option, if you want to run a white light, sling and grip would be a Cadex Triad from OSTS.

Looks great! Is the one pictured the same as the one in the link? The reason I ask is that from what I've read I'll need the carbine length model, but the spacing pictured looks the same as my rifle.

I guess the only downside to zipping off the delta ring is that you can't throw the factory handguards back on, correct?

That's exactly the same unit you would use - the space between the FSB and the receiver is the same on all 'carbine length' gas system guns, doesn't matter if it's 10.5, 12.5. 14.5 or 16 inch - if it's a carbine length gas system it's the same rail.

If you want to put the factory handguards back on you'd need a new delta ring assembly, and then just take the barrel off to install it.

Yes for sure, just threw me for a loop as the link posted was for mid length, not carbine. Had me second guessing myself. The carbine version is currently sold out, I have an email off to wolverine to see when it'll be back in stock, or if they have anything comparable available.

Thanks for the help guys. Might seem like a simple question, but I wasn't sure, and I know there's a lot of knowledgeable members here on the site.
