I will soon be getting my range membership sorted and so will need a case lock and carry my handgun for transport.

I was thinking of either a surplus ammo can with lock (carry the firearm and ammo together), or a 11in tool case like this:

Just wondering if anyone had any other suggestions?

Only own one handgun right now. Might pick up a second. Maybe even a third. But even if I had three I don't see myself needing to carry an arsenal to the range.

Found this from Canadian Tire. Might be a winner...

I bet there are more than 100. Please don't come back unless you have reliable stats. Thanks.
That is some funny ####e,, thanks for the laugh :)
The Princess Auto cases are fantastic, and go on sale quite often. I have three handguns in mine, but could easily fit four, works like a charm
PS- not the aluminum case, the plastic tool case with the pluck foam

Thanks, I shall check it out.

Does the factory box lock, and fit a trigger lock? Toss that in a backpack. If you want to get fancier, I have the 5.11 Patrol Ready bag that I use as my dedicated range purse, fits all my ammo, ear pro, targets, and up to two pistols in locked cases

Princess Auto's Power Fist Impact Resistant Cases are the best value you can get. S-M-L depending on how much storage you need. And yes, regularly goes on sale (up to 50% off). There is also the Mastercraft waterproof cases from Crappy Tire (more expensive than P Auto). But if you wanted something more solid, you can try Nanuk and Pelican cases but for more money. Nanuk 909 will fit 2 pistols and mags with a similar Pelican for almost same cost. You can have a bigger Nanuk or Pelican where you can throw everything inside including glasses, earmuffs, spotting scope, tools, etc.

Seriously though, in response to the OP. Wait for the $64.99 16" Power Fist case to go on sale at Princess Auto. They will easily hold up to 4 pistols, are great value and are well built.

Ditto for the Princess Auto box. I have each of my pistols in a separate 10 or 16 inch box, makes it easy to pick up the gun you are taking to the range. I use the 16 inch box for the longer barreled ones. A word of advice don't pluck out the foam to try and make the gun fit. Just place it between the two layers and close it up. After a while there will be an impression of the gun in the foam. I like these boxes because you can fit a combo trigger lock on the gun. I keep mags and accessories along with the gun and the registration certificate under the foam in the top lid. Also go to Home Deport and pick up a Master D640 combo lock for the box itself. Works for me. You just missed out on the 10" boxes on sale for about $18 last week. In my experience the 16 inchers will go on sale next. Don't know when though. Good luck

I'll second this. I've probably bought 6 over the years and passed along half of them.

Just make sure you get the right length shank for the locks to go on the case. I got Master Lock model 140QLH locks with 2 inch hasp for them and they work fine. Shorter ones won't lock due to how the holes are placed. I think they were $35 off Amazon which was the cheapest I could find for a set of 4.
