I have owned both a Sig 228 and a Glock 17. To be quite honest, I liked them both; but for different reasons.
The Sig has 6 external items that can be manipulated (trigger, hammer, take-down lever, de-cocker and mag release) while you play and mess around with it while you watch COPS on tv.
Out at the range however, only the trigger and mag release really get used. I also found that the Sig seemed to have a snappier recoil than the Glock. I think it has to do with the fact that the slide and barrel are higher up on the Sig.
The Glock has only 3 external items that can be manipulated. (trigger, take-down lever and mag release) It is quite a bit lighter (by 0.2kg according to guns.ru) than the Sig but also seems to shoot softer. I have found that I shoot better with it as well. At 25 yd, I went from shooting about 60% in the 10 zone to about 90%. I wouldn't say that one pistol is more accurate than the other, just that I personally shoot the Glock better.
The biggest deciding factor for me was the trigger pull. The Glock has the same trigger pull from the first shot to the last. As long as you only shoot your Sig for fun, this will be no problem as you can manually #### the hammer before you start shooting. But if you ever decide to compete (or, heaven forbid, you need it to protect yourself) the consistent trigger pull will probably make life easier for you.
The above is only my opinion and not to be taken for anything else other than that. I just wanted to help give the Glock a fair shake.
