Handgun for 'little guy'

I think a .357 with .38's in it would be good to start, and when he got comfortable with them he could just load the .357.

I own a ruger mk II and I love it, but im sure your son wants to be able to have something not seen as a wimpy calibur. I also owned a Walther P99 and I agree with gobrob that it is a great pistol for small hands. I was very accurate with it and I kind of wish i never sold it. oh well. thats life.

But if I were you I would consider a nice .357 because of the ability to use 2 different cartrages.

I'm definitely leaning towards a .357 with .38's - great idea. Probably a nice spankin' new one. Time to tour the local shops and EE.

The subject brings back memories. Our youngest Boy started off shooting a .22 Ruger Bearcat - that was 45 years ago. It is his now and says he will never part with it. I hope he never has to.

Taurus does make some pretty neat guns; but I really can't recommend buying a Taurus until I start to hear good things about their parts supply in Canada.

Have you thought about a 1911 in 9mm?

Would an L-frame 6in revolver with full underlug not be a bit heavy for a 10yr old to hold up for extended periods of time ? What about a K-frame M66 in 357/38 with half underlug ?
