Hello everyone,

I am wondering what some of the people here with small hands/short fingers are using for a handgun. I have been looking into buying my first handgun, but am having trouble finding something that I can reach everything with. Specifically the slide release.
Should I be worried about reaching the release without having to more my hand around the grip?

Currently the only option I have found that fits well is the Beretta ATX. Not currently looking for a revolver.

Thanks for the input!

Might also want to take a look at the new Glock 48, my wife tried it and said it felt very good in her smallish hand, right now she uses a M&P 9 2.0 with the small grip and that fits her pretty good as well.

Im sure there are others out there, you wont know till you handle each and ever one that you can at your LCS and find out what fits/works best for you.

M&P has great ergos, and the 2.0s grip will certainly help. That said, I will always suggest a Browning Hi Power or CZ75 for those with the smallest of hands. Little ladies included.

Try a 1911, if you like all steel pistol.
Next try a Glock 48 (Polymer), or Sig P239 (aluminum alloy).
Anything single stack, will work.

You could also try Glock 19, for a double stack.

I find the HK P2000 or P30, with medium backstrap, is still a bit longer trigger reach compared to the G19.
But with the small backstrap, the mag release digs into my middle finger (after a match).

I have very small hands and the only pistol that truly fits is the Ruger SR9. I get by with other guns but the SR9 is a double stack that feels like a single stack.

I’ve got small hands I’ve found what works really well for me are guns with ambidextrous paddle-style mag releases, like most Heckler and Koch or current Walther offerings. Pistols that fit me well are the SIG P320 with small grip frame, CZ75 models, and 1911s

I wouldn’t worry too much about finding one that’s only good for small hands. It’s no big deal to rotate the gun around in your hand a bit to hit the mag release button. I’ve owned some pretty big guns like theDesert Eagle or H&K Mark 23 and have had no issues with any of them.
