Handgun Hunting; If you could, what would you use?

Ruger Blackhawk, .45 Colt, 4 5/8 bbl, 255 gr LSWC, would probably not stalk bears, but all else is game. I can't hit the inside of a barn with a bow, but if all those critters fall to still-hunting bowhunters, I'm pretty sure they'll fall to a .45. At least, they all did long before jacketed bullets and "high-power" rifles came along.

I can't carry a handgun when hunting, but I do carry one of my marlin lever action rifles in .32 H&R mag., .357 mag., .44 mag., or .45 colt.

When the laws are changed,:onCrack: I will certainly carry one of my rugers in the same cartridges to hunt with.

I'd make off with the Old Man's K-17 for small game and probably seek out a S&W 629 or S&W 25 for bigger stuff. I could use my S&W Model 19 for deer and general use too.

Oh, dare to dream.

I have shot caribo with a SSK 45-70 14 inch, also with a 357 Super Mag falling block pistol. I have shot woodchucks (marmottes) with a Dan Wesson 357 Super Mag and several other handguns. Prairie dogs with my PPK/S in 380 and a Remington XP 100 in .17. I have shot a Hungarian partridge with my Springfield .45. I have shot marmotte with my Seville 10 inch revolver in 357 Super Mag. I have shot a 600 plus pound wild boar with my XP 100 in 7-08. I have shot a Corsican ram at over 200 yards with my XP 100 in 7 -08. I can't remember all the animals I have shot with pistols! I live in Quebec, but I do travel! I am also a bit older.

My mentor of Handgun Hunters International, JD Jones! He has killed every big game with a handgun in the world! His best hunting calibe: 375JDJ. It is good for everything from marmotte to Rhino!

Regards,
Henry;)
