Handgun Hunting Support

I don't think I'll bother to read all 78 pages of guys saying what they'd like to use for what. They're adequate tools and would make chasing cats a heck of a lot more fun, not to mention shooting the occasional grouse for the pot. Why not?

Now, some may argue, anyone can have a handgun and be "going hunting" as long as they have the proper licence. A licence can be purchased anywhere. I'm sure this will be a concern of the anti's and law enforcement. How do we address this concern?

Drug dealers do not carry their handguns in trunks of their cars unloaded, trigger locked inside another locked container. They do not have PAL and they do not have 3 years outdoors card to prove it with all hunting tags attached to it. We do.

Why could they not have a PAL? And I have no idea what a 3 years outdoors card is. I don't have one and I go hunting. Nor do I need tags to go rabbit hunting.

I'm not saying I don't agree with you. This is some of the concerns the anti's will have. I talk about handgun hunting all the time with a LEO buddy of mine, his concerns HAVE to be mine(ours) also, if we want to persue this.

Just to carry the thought a bit further, perhaps handgun hunting licence would only be granted to someone who has had a long gun licence for a few years? One thing to keep in mind, the hunting regs currently differ from province to province. Would a more universal approach to the rules for handgun hunting be something we would push for?

We HAVE to talk about it and we HAVE to be prepared when the time comes.
