Anyone take courses in the US?

There seems to be a great number of training facilities that focus on defensive handgun, tactical handgun etc. etc.

FAS, Gunsite, Storm Mountain etc. etc...

Any recomendations as to Canadian-friendly training schools? :canadaFlag:

The SIGARMS Academy is just 9 hours from Toronto and they cater to civies

About a year ago, there was a thread on CGN about US training not being available to non US citizens.
Is this still an issue? What was the final word on that?
I contacted the training division of the NRA, and they had not heard of this.

As a member of the International Association of Firearms Instructors, we all received the following information, that any forgein nationals attending any courses or armorer courses would not be allowed to receive certification, as per requirements of the US State Department, to the best of my knowledge this has not changed and exemptions are in place for LE/MIL attending the US.

So we can attend, but not get certified? Thats just goofy.
Thanks for the update.
Any word on if this includes the NRA Instructor courses?

read the events section, use the search feature. there are tons of courses going on regularly up here. Tactical Response is coming up again in October and so on.

Yeah the Tactical Response course has dates that wont work for me, signing up at SIGARMS academy but looking at GUNSITE?

Anyone CGN'ers been?

Has anyone been to FrontSight?
I got on their mailing list, and now they are forever sending me "limited time offer" deals of all sorts.
Does that "free" deal actually work, if you put a link to their site on your own website?

I dont think they allow Canadians (civies) to take training there..I may be wrong though..

I have attended courses at Front Sight and it is a first rate program. Facilities are great and instruction is top notch. Be advised though that if you are looking at the basic courses, it is really geared to the folks who have no history with firearms and can be boring initially. The attendees are to say the least "interesting" in some cases. Yikes.. As for the instruction to foreigners, indeed it is not to be provided to non residents, but given their proximity to Vegas and the number of tourists heading out there to play with full autos, they will accommodate Canadians but just dont go around telling everybody. Beginner courses are no problem but they are pretty careful when it comes to tactical/defensive instruction.
Cheers:)
