I've been waiting for more than three weeks since I bought my handgun from a store. The guy at the store told me it should go smoothly (as in "2-3 weeks") since I was already a member of a shooting club.

I called the RCMP the day after my purchase to ask for an email confirmation. But I haven't heard from them since.

Anyone else is in such a limbo? Should I call back, or keep waiting?

Yeah, I've noticed for the AR too. I bought a lower receiver a few days after and, for that too, I'm still waiting.

I'm very tempted by the ATRS Sporter to avoid all this nonsense...

I'm in Ontario and called today as it will be four weeks tomorrow. I was told I should receive my transfer approval tomorrow as they are backlogged four weeks....WTF???

It's funny how our phone calls (for transfers or for the RPAL) often happen to coincide exactly with their backlog, usually followed by a quick approval.

I'm thinking I should call to test my theory.

Well... Yesterday, I wrote to the store where I bought my gun to see if they had any idea what the waiting time was with their other clients presently. They replied and said my transfer was still at Sûreté du Québec.

So to know that, they called.

Guess what.

I just received an email a few minutes ago saying the transfer is approved.
