Handgun transfer wait times?

What transfer times have people been seeing lately? 3 weeks ago i did an ont to ont and it took 3 days. I was the seller.
I am also waiting on a transfer for a de44. I am the buyer and it has been almost three weeks. I dont understand the variance in time.
Anyone know something i dont?

I transferred an AR to a gentleman in Ontario and it took 2 weeks. In Saskatchewan it only takes about a day. I got 2 in the last month. Must be backlog....at least that is what they will tell ya!!

Last two transfers for me in BC were approved within 24 hours of me, the buyer finishing the transfer info, having received the reference number from the seller I have the gun via the PO but nothing from the CFO in writing to confirm the transfer was made or my fabled certificate. Probably here tomorrow or Wednesday. Handgun transferred Oct. 4. Transfer documents likely caught up in the mail over the long week-end. Gun mailed to me Oct. 5.

FYI the package was left in the PO Community box, or whatever they call them. Our neighbourhood does not get home delivery.

Strange. Seem to be all friendly good folks at the CFO. I've done several either inside Alberta, or AB/BC and always 1 or 2 days. Just sold one into Ontario and the buyer warned me to expect a couple weeks. Looks like he may have been right. If Ontario's volume is that high, maybe they need more staff?

As a slightly unrelated aside, registration certificates routinely take a month or two - an agonizing wait when you are just itching to take your new pride and joy to the range. :(

Also slightly unrelated, I just got a STATT for out of province travel and it was approved in about 3 business days.

Rob!

I was told by a CFO that wait times particularly in Ontario reflected the need for more thorough background checks due to the amount of organized crime and the associated drug trade along with a larger population base. You might be paying the price for just being so darn big. I do know when I went East with my handgun to help with the Army pistol competitions Vancouver told me if I had a change n travel plans to contact them NOT the Ontario CFO. That was a few years ago and things may have changed since. Doesn't sound like it though,

In Ontario it is VERY FAST now. Many years ago it was 1.5-2 weeks standard time.

I just bought a new Glock 21 last Friday morning (September 2016)....excluding Saturday and Sunday, I got a call on Wednesday morning from gun shop saying my transfer paperwork came in and I can pick up my G21 now lol :)

So that's 3 days ;). In Ontario now....transfer times for restricted firearms you're looking at a few days, a week Max.

Cheers :)

i cancelled a transfer from Ontario to bc after 5 weeks waiting, and constantly being told to be patient by the cfo, i had to back out of the deal, i paid the seller a %10 cost for the ####e that we both agreed on was solely the cfo`s issue, sucks, but its why i will no longer deal with any private transfer coming from Ontario and Quebec, nothing but headaches dealing the cfo out there :(

I just called the Ontario CFO about a business transfer. I was told they're dealing with a high volume, and current processing times are about 4-6 days for business -> individual transfers, and 4 weeks for individual -> individual transfers.

My last three transfers were two days or less. Two from Ontario and one in BC. One of the transfers from Ontario was a trade, he is expecting his to go through in 3 to 4 weeks.

I almost bought a pistol from ee in ontario but wasnt willing to play the never ending waiting game, so i bought new not much more cash anyhow ill let you know how long it takes im going to do the deal on saturday
