I took a couple handgun virgin girls to the range with me on a date :D (no, not at the same time) and noticed both of them were trying to use both index fingers to pull the trigger (one on top of the other), I tried to correct them but both just seemed to like it that way :confused: and they weren't even using the same guns. At lest one of them didn't try to cross the thumbs:runaway:

Anyone else noticed that?

Perhaps they think the bullet will go farther if they use more effort?????

I must say that it's an odd one for sure. Perhaps there is some soap opera heroine that holds her gun that way? :D
 
I've taken my fair share of chickadees to the range and I've yet to see anything of the sort. They'd get a thorough tongue-lashing if I caught them doing that!! (...did that sound wrong?)

The arched back, however, is very common.
 
Interesting. Would using both fingers (yes, it sounds bizarre to me as well) cancel out the tendency to pull the barrel to one side?
 
Are their hands too small for the gun? Maybe they use two tips of fingers to make up for one weak grip on the trigger?

I've never seen that before.
 
never had a girl do that, just lots and lots of arched back (get them to fix it for one shot then they go right back)

if its a double action first pull maybe they want it for more pull strength, mine is about 10# pull which could be alot for a girl.
 
I would suggest it is because of a lack of information and/or training into proper grip, stance and firing position. Should likely be solved with about 5 minutes worth of explanation and some dry-fire techniques before even going to the range.
 
They are both pretty small and light. I'll bet they just felt more balanced with that heavy gun out at arm's length. And then there's the fact that their hands are so small that niether of them is getting a good wrap around the grips. I'll bet that's why they felt more comfy with two fingers on there. Especially for the first DA shot if there was one.

Teaching girl how to shoot is sure way to ruin your date. I found its better just let them do whatever as long as it is safe. I also keep a few full-sized silhouette targets as confidence builder just for female companions, at least there will be some holes somewhere.
