From the CSAAA
HANDGUN TRANSFER FREEZE
begins November 9th (at the earliest)

As Twitter seems to be the official communication method for firearm policy, we had to investigate this tweet further.

After consulting with two legal teams, it has been determined that the Liberal Government spoke too soon. The new regulation has not been posted in the Canada Gazette, therefor the handgun freeze cannot take effect until November 9th, 2022 at the earliest.

Transfers are currently being successfully submitted online.

We will provide updates and written confirmation shortly.

Please email info@csaaa.org if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks for update!!

What a ####show. Retailers rush to remove handgun section from their websites and now rush to put them back up.

They will not initiate transfers over the phone. I got through twice and they told me they are enforcing October 21st for the freeze. I even read out what it says on the public safety canada website, they are “just doing what they’re told.”

Sounds like when CBSA was enforcing their own interpretation of import laws restricting parts from crossing the border....

Just because they're going through online doesn't mean they'll be approved. I can apply for a carry license too but I ain't gettin it

The official regulations will be published in Canada Gazette, Part II on November 9, 2022.

The official regulations prevail.

Oct 21 announcement is in force, just as they said, after 30 days of sitting.

Thanks to DaMikey I have found the following:

The new regulations were given a registration number on October 20, 2022. The number is SOR/ 2022-219.

The new regs clearly state that they come into force on the day on which they are registered.

All this info comes from official gov of Canada websites.

The Orders in Council Division is one.

The info also says that the regs will be published on November 9, 2022.

The May 2020 regs came into force prior to being published in the Canada Gazette.

Handguns are certainly NOT back on the menu

The CFP are refusing to process transfers. So, it's still status quo for now.

What a gong show, it will be intersting to hear how the CBC covers this clearly political wedge issue blunder by the Liberals... trudeau keeps saying it's the Conservatives that are making this into a political issue, but just like they could not wait a few weeks or a month after the Nova Scotia rampage, once again they are rushing in blindly with announcements and proclamations that are incorrect and purley an attempt to divert from other bad news items such as the released phone conversation of Lackey whining about having to suck up to Bill Blair and Trudeau

There was no incorrect announcements..the timeline, procedure and protocols were followed to the day.
Oct 21 announcement was after 30 days of sitting and Nov 9 is 20 days after OCT 21

So when Justine said a few days ago " as of today the sales and transfers of legal handguns in Canada is no longer allowed" he was correct?

edit
I'm pretty tired, it's been a long day, I see where your coming from, even though it's not law yet, the king pronounced it as effective and the CFC won't do transfers so in effect the new law has kicked in prematurely somehow.
