Not really into old bolts but a fellow wanted to show me one in his collection. It's a German Mauser in 8mm, brand new unfired! Complete with sling and bayonet (with cover). It has proof marks on top the receiver with 1941 stamped below it. I couldn't tell in the low light of his basement but he said it had a couple of swastikas stamped in as well. Don't know the value of something like this but it's about as good a collector I think as you could find. TC

Sounds like a possible Portuguese contract rifle made by Mauser Oberndorf in 1941. Many were imported into the U.S. and Canada in unfired condition, still in their packing crates from the 1940s. I believe the last matching, mint example went for close to $1000 on the EE if I am not mistaken.

It would be best to post a some pictures of the rifle, particularly the top of the receiver where the markings are.

There are many variations of the basic M/98 Mauser and the value of each one can vary depending upon what model or Government used it. Values can even range between models made for the same Military or Government, depending upon scarcity of a date, or upgrade.

Well if we want to play this game I think that I have a good one.

On Thursday, I got to handle a Mauser Mod of 71/84 in 11mm made at the Spandau factory. She was a little rough but still nice.

I'll play! At 71 years old, last Friday I got to handle a nicely shaped 62 year old Blonde Lady. After a nice dinner and a few glasses of wine, she was "made" shortly after midnight. ;)
